Detoxifying Foods

Discover Natural Ways to Detox

Our environment both inside and outside our homes are full of toxins that we breathe in, ingest or rub on our skin everyday.  Add to that the load of toxic emotional load we all carry, there is little wonder that we see a spike in illness despite the advances in medical science. What can be done to counteract the onslaught of chemical exposures that are leading us down this path of chronic illness?  Purging or detoxing these substances from our bodies will go a long way to helping us sustain our precious health and vitality.  The following tips are based off of a great article written by Tony Isaacs, click here to read more.

*Be sure to eat plenty of alkaline foods such as fruits and vegetables. Alkaline bodies are better able to flush toxins.

* Fiber helps your liver flush out toxins by transporting them out of your digestive system. Eat two to three servings of fiber-rich foods daily. Dietary sources of fiber include whole grain breads and cereals, flax seed, barley, beans and fresh or dried prunes.

* Toxins tend to collect in the fat around tissues like your liver. Grapefruit contains a flavonoid called naringenin that reprograms your liver to melt excess fat, instead of storing it.

* Garlic boosts the ability of your white blood cells to fight the effects of toxins.

* Lemons and asparagus have proven abilities to reduce pesticide levels.

* Eggs help remove toxins and also increase energy levels

Don’t overlook the value of fresh, clean water.  Drink plenty of water everyday- how do you know when you’ve drank enough?  Your urine should look like water.
