NBA All-Star rosters will have usuals — some who shouldn't be there

  • Several stars are sure to land in the starting lineup for this year’s NBA All-Star team. But instead of only pointing out the obvious, Sporting News’ Sean Deveney pencils in his reserves and wild-card choices.

When it comes to NBA All-Star voting, we are within days now of Kevin Garnett snatching a starting spot from more deserving candidates like Tyson Chandler or Chris Bosh (to name two) in the Eastern Conference, while Dwight Howard might be a starter over the much more efficient ageless wonder Tim Duncan.

Voting closes Monday for the All-Star starters, and the coaches will pick the reserves thereafter, but as things stand, the NBA’s All-Star teams ought to stack up something like this.

Quietly, Bosh has put together his best season as a member of the Heat, scoring 17.7 points per game and notching 7.6 rebounds. No one would mind if he stopped taking 3-pointers, of course, but he is shooting 54.7 percent overall.
