Brauder Gale Smith has written the book, “Media Ministry: 10 Keys to Success.” Her book is designed to enhance the knowledge of those interested in starting a media ministry, or for those who have a ministry in place and desire to move it forward.  Her interest in media ministry evolved incidentally.  Needless to say, her thirsts for knowledge and seeking a higher education have remained constant in her life.  After graduating from Rosedale High School in 1982, she attended Mississippi Delta Jr. College.  She yearned to enter the work world and decided to put her education on hold.  Five years later, she earned her Associate degree in general business.  She graduated from Bluefield State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1992. In the same year, she moved to Decatur.

While working full-time at a major utility company, Brauder pursued her Master’s degree and completed it in 13 months in an accelerated program offered by Benedictine University, graduating with a 4.0 grade point average. She describes the accomplishment as, “an extremely rewarding experience.”   It is through the experience of pursuing her Master’s degree that she wrote her book.  Her professor encouraged students to select a thesis topic that equated with a passion. Her passion for the media ministry began at St. Peter A.M.E. Church.  Through her experiences as the church’s media minister, she fell in love with what she was doing. Thus, her book is a natural flow of her passion. It is awesome to note the many places where her book has been distributed: Book Expo of America in New York, International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta, and Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, to name a few. Her leadership expands to her local and state church organizations.  Currently, Brauder is the secretary for the NAACP Decatur Branch.  She is a registered voter and takes voting seriously.
